Vocal concert by T.S. Sathyavathi at Ganabharathi on Oct. 26

Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised a vocal concert by Vidu. T.S. Sathyavathi at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar on Oct.26 at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by Vidu. Nalina Mohan on violin, Vid. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. Narayanamurthy on ghata.

Profile: Born in a home with profound music, Dr. T.S. Sathyavathi is one of the senior musicians in India. Sanskrit and music have been inseparable twins in her  life. Her special training in mridanga and musicology has equipped her with the essentials in laya and lakshana to explore and canalise her immense vocal potential and expertise on aesthetic as well.

Mentored by the greats like Vid. R.K. Srikantan, Vid. T.S. Vasanthamadhavi, Vid. B.V. K. Shastri and Bangalore K. Venkataram, she is a great performer and a guru par excellence. Having a rich performing experience, she has also directed and produced the musical opera “Gokula Nirgamana” of  Pu.Ti. Narasimhachar.  She has composed music for dance-dramas like Gita Govindam,                                                             Abhijnana Shakuntalam, Daksha Yajnam, etc.

She has composed and directed 13 episodes of  “Samskrita Kavya Sangeeta,” AIR, Bangalore; 13 episodes of  music appreciation course “Haadu Hakki,” India Foundation for Arts; “Kalaswada,”  Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy; Haridasa compositions, Department of Kannada and Culture and Vachanas of Shivasharanas.  

She is also a great Guru who has gifted an array of performing artistes to the field of music. Being a dedicated academician, she has authored  Chatushashtikala (64 arts) — a book published from Gandhi Centre for Science and Human Values of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB).
