Govt. revises Covid-19 testing strategy

Bengaluru: Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar on Wednesday said the State Government has revised Covid-19 testing strategy to tackle possible third wave of the virus.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Dr. Sudhakar said, “As per the revised strategy, the testing target has been raised to 1.75 lakhs for each district. Of the overall testing, 10 percent would focus on 1-18 age group.”

“To monitor the spread of infection in rural areas, 50 percent of the total tests should be done outside the Taluk Central area. In villages/towns where the positivity rate is less than 5 percent, asymptomatic cases will be tested via pooling,’’ the Minister explained.
