Mysuru: Government Primary School teachers have decided to go on strike on July 9 to make sure the government pays heed to their long-pending demands. Members of the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association said they are planning to conduct massive protests across the State and all Government Schools will be closed on July 9.
In order to draw the attention of the Government towards their long-pending demands, the Association passed a resolution to boycott classes on that day. Association President Basavaraj Gurikar said that most of their demands are pending before the government.
Their demands include extension of graduate-level pay scale for graduate primary school teachers, establishing pre-primary classes in all 46,000 Government Primary Schools across the State, revert to the old pension scheme instead of the National Pension Scheme, and consider recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission.
Anganwadi workers’ protest
Protesting against opening of LKG and UKG classes in Govt. Schools, Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers and Assistants Federation will stage a demonstration in front of DC Office on July 5 and July 6 and submit a memorandum to DC at 4 pm on July 6. Anganwadi Workers of Mysuru city and rural areas will take part in the protest, according to a press release.
