Mysuru:  Gowrishankarnagar resident Gurupadaswamy has refuted the allegations that illegal construction was going on in the agricultural land at the foot of Chamundi Hill belonging to Aramane Panchagavi Mutt.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Gurupadaswamy termed the allegations made by another resident M. Nandeesh that unauthorised construction was going on in the land belonging to Muzarai Department’s Aramane Panchagavi Mutt, as baseless.

Pointing out that agricultural land coming under Mysuru Taluk Kasaba Hobli Survey Numbers 158, 159, 160, 161, 162, and 163 was the property of Panchangavi Mutt, he said that as the land failed to generate revenue, the then Mutt Seer Shantaveerendra Swamiji in 1983-84, had formed sites and sold them to about 500 people at affordable rates.

The Swamiji had also earmarked land for construction of a school and student hostel, Gurupadaswamy said.

Claiming that Nandeesh, who has been making baseless allegations, had constructed a house at a site belonging to the Mutt, he urged Nandeesh to first vacate the house and hand over the same to the Government, before making any allegations.Shantveerendra Swamiji, Udigala Mahadevappa, Veeramahesh and others were present.
