Periyapatna: A Gram Panchayat (GP) Member was found dead in his car under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday.

Ashok (33), a Member of Hanasoge GP in K.R. Nagar taluk, is the deceased.

Villagers, who found a Maruti Ertiga car parked by the roadside on Ravandur-Attigodu Road throughout Monday night, informed the matter to the Police on Tuesday morning.

Upon information, the Police rushed to the spot and broke open the window panes of the car, only to find Ashok dead inside the car. The Police identified Ashok through the cell phone found in his person, it is learnt.

Periyapatna Police have registered a case in this regard.
