Mysore/Mysuru: District Hospital Surgeon Dr. T. Amarnath has said that it is necessary for students who want to work in medical field to nurture traits of humanitarian considerations and commitment to serve the patients.

He was speaking at the ‘Graduates Day’ programme of BGS International Foundation for Health Sciences organised at Bandanthamma Kalamma Kalyana Mantap in Saraswathipuram on Tuesday.

“Of late, the number of students opting to join the Nursing courses is increasing. Though this is a welcome trend, it is essential that those who come to this profession must possess humanitarian values. They should interact with the patients who come to hospitals with health issues in a responsive and humanitarian way. Only then one can become successful in their profession. If Nurses continue to serve patients with dedication it will help them to  reach higher positions in their career,” he opined.

Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Prof. Sharanappa V. Halase said that society respects those who work in health sector.

“Nurses, apart from treating the patients with affection must inspire confidence in them. In any field learning is a continuous process and students must not stop to learn new things even after their post-graduation. Practice and experience begets professional skills and students must reserve some of their time to gain more knowledge and strive towards bettering the health of the patients,” he adviced.

Sri Somanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt Mysuru branch graced the occasion.

In all, 57 students including Dijisha Jose, Jisamol, Aparna Unnikrishnan, Abina Anil, Bia Anne Thomas and Marlin Shaji were given Degree certificates and 4 students of Post-Graduate courses were also given Degree certificates at the function.

Distinguished guests and college lecturers lit the lamps held by the students in their hands and wished them a bright future.

Parents of graduate and post-graduate students also were present on the occasion.

District Nursing Officer K.A. Khadija, Nursing Superintendent of Cheluvamba Hospital B.A. Sulalitangi, Apollo BGS Hospitals Vice-President N.G. Bharateesh Reddy, Medical Superintendant Dr. Aman Nayak and others were present at the function.
