Gram Panchayat bypolls: Ban orders imposed

Mysore/Mysuru: On account of Gram Panchayat (GP) by-polls to take place on May 20 for two Gram Panchayats of the district, prohibitory orders have been imposed from May 18 to 20 in the limits of Haginavalu Gram Panchayat in Nanjangud taluk and Bettadapura Gram Panchayat in Periyapatna taluk .

Accordingly, manufacture, stocking, sale and transportation of liquor has been totally prohibited in these Gram Panchayat limits. Also, all liquor shops have been ordered to close down from 5 pm on May 18 till 5 pm on May 20.

This apart, all fairs, shandies and jatras have been banned in these two GP limits from the midnight of May.19 till May 20 midnight.

Further, as a law and order maintenance measure, the Police have asked all persons residing in these two GP limits, to hand over their guns and other firearms they possess to their respective Police Station immediately.

Also, carrying of any explosives or lethal weapons and such other activities has been banned, according to press releases issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the District Electoral Officer.
