Grand Hindustani Classical Vocal by Ustad Faiyaz Khan in city on Dec. 25

Mysuru: Raaga Vaibhava, Mysuru, has organised a Grand Hindustani Classical Vocal recital by Ustad Faiyaz Khan at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road in city on Dec. 25 at 6 pm.

He will be accompanied by Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath on harmonium and Pt. Ramesh Dhannur on tabla.

The programme is sponsored by industrialist and philanthropist Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy.

Ustad Faiyaz Khan is a Sarangi artiste, Tabla player and a popular Classical Hindustani Vocalist. He is well-known for rendering Khyal music and sarangi solos and also for Kannada Dasarapada and Vachanas.

Born into a family of Kirana Gharana musicians, he is the 8th generation musicians in his family. He started his Sarangi and Vocal practice under his father’s guidance. He has served as President of Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy also.

Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath, a renowned Harmonium accompanist and disciple of Dr. Puttaraj Gawai, is now pursuing music under Pt. Indudhar Nirodi. He is the Secretary of Swara Sankula, training students in Hindustani Classical music.

Pt. Ramesh Dhannur had his higher Tabla training from Padma Bhushan Dr. Pt. Puttaraj Gawai for 10 years. Now he is in the faculty of Sapthaswara Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Music University, Mysuru.
