MP Yaduveer launches mass feeding atop Chamundi Hill

Mysuru, June 4 (GA&DM)- Two grand processions marked the 142nd birth anniversary of the erstwhile Mysore ruler Rajarshi Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar in city this morning.
MP Yaduveer Wadiyar flagged off the procession at Lakshmiramanaswamy temple in Palace premises as part of State-level Jayanti celebrations organised by Mysuru District Administration in association with Kannada and Culture Department.
The procession, accompanied by a host of cultural and folk troupes, passed through K.R. Circle (where the Statue of Nalwadi was garlanded and offered floral tributes by the MP and others), D. Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road and Vinoba Road, before culminating at Kalamandira where the day-long stage programme was organised.
During the stage programme, 29 achievers from different fields will be conferred with ‘Rajarshi Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar’ Award.
MLA T.S. Srivatsa, MLC C.N. Manjegowda, Sri Chamundeshwari Temple Development Authority Secretary M.J. Roopa and others were present.
After the procession culminated, a documentary on Nalwadi was screened at Kalamandira.
Kannada and Culture Department had organised Painting, Quiz and Fancy dress competition for students at the venue.
A play on Nalwadi titled ‘Aalida Mahaswamigalu’ will be enacted at 6.30 pm.
In another event, member of the erstwhile Mysore Royal Family Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, MP Yaduveer Wadiyar and Malavalli’s Sri Kappadi Mutt Seer M.L. Varchasvi Srikanta Siddalinga Raje Urs jointly flagged off the rally at Sri Chamarajendra School for Excellence on Krishnaraja Boulevard as part of Nalwadi Jayanti under the joint aegis of Ursu Mandali Sangha and a host of other associations.
Speaking to mediapersons, Yaduveer said a mass feeding programme, aimed to feed about 1 lakh people, was launched atop Chamundi Hill this morning as part of a service initiative on Nalwadi Jayanti.
The rally passed through K.R. Boulevard, Vanivilas Road, Madhav Rao Circle (Agrahara Circle) and Sayyaji Rao Road, before culminating at K.R. Circle, where the statue of Nalwadi was garlanded.
Nalwadi Jayanti was celebrated by a few other organisations also at different venues across the city, during which rich tributes were paid to the visionary ruler and the architect of modern Mysuru.
