Grand Walkathon for Women Empowerment

Over 1,000 women took out a walkathon yesterday in city from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple till Exhibition Grounds to raise awareness among public about women empowerment and  safety issues.

The walkathon was organised jointly by DHAN Foundation and Department of Kannada and Culture. Holding placards on women and  their safety, raising slogans to ensure safety for women at all working places, they passed through Hardinge Circle, Bengaluru – Mysuru Road and culminated at P. Kalingarao Memorial Hall in Dasara Exhibition Grounds where a public programme was held.

This programme also sensitised women about job skills, providing vital health information, mobilising against domestic violence and improving their housing and community infrastructure.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner B.R. Poornima flagged off the walkathon. Syndicate Bank Regional Manager Panduranga, Programme Coordinator of DHAN Foundation Gajanan Heggade and others were present.
