Green cover eroding due to population explosion: MP

Bylakuppe: Maintaining that forest cover is fast eroding due to population explosion and unscientific development, Rajya Sabha MP Kupendra Reddy has said that the destruction of forest has led to ecological imbalance, thus threatening the very existence of life on earth. He was speaking at the 100 acre afforestation programme in Tibetan Colony at Bylakuppe in the taluk recently.

Underlining the role of everyone in saving our earth and environment, Reddy said that it was important that urgent measures are taken to save our green cover from further destruction.

Sakya Monastery Tibetan Guru Trichen Rimpocte said that there should be at least 33 percent green cover in our surroundings to maintain ecological balance.

Explaining the importance of undertaking worthwhile campaigns for the protection of green cover, he said that forests are a part of our life.
