Mysuru: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru, Talukina Venkannaiah Smaraka Granthamale and Kannada Sahitya Kala Koota together had organised a function at Bhavan’s auditorium in Vijayanagar here yesterday to release the book ‘Green Room Galate,’ based on a comedy play in Kannada, by N. Ramanuja, Chairman, BVB, Bengaluru.
Writer Dr. H.S. Venkatesh Murthy released the book. Speaking on the occasion, he opined that the future of the nation was in the hands of youth. He asked the youth to check the cultural and literary credentials of a politician before casting vote.
Dr. Murthy, who is known for his children’s literature, said: “Ask those politicians who come to your doorsteps seeking votes about Kuvempu, Da. Ra. Bendre and other writers. If possible ask them to tell a few lines written by the great litterateurs. Also ask them about music legends like Gangubai Hangal, Mallikarjun Mansoor and others.”
Theatre artiste Rajashekar Kadamba said that the book was an excellent light humour story. He said that the contents were an excellent material for comedians to excel.
Ramanuja, who is also the former Chairman and MD of HMT, said the play was based on the real life incidents that was written at the age of 16. It has got a reprint with a new publisher now, he added.
