Mysuru: Nazarbad Police have arrested eight youths including minors on charges of riot and assaulting a person in Siddarthanagar here.
The arrested have been identified as Sunil, Shivadatta, Nanjunda, Yeshwanth, Nivedan and others.
It is learnt that Sunil and Shivadatta were enemies and had earlier indulged in a fight near JSS Ayurveda College and Devegowda Circle here. In a bid to compromise, some friends had called the two near Madhu Fast Food in Siddarthanagar during which verbal duel ensued between the youths resulting in exchange of blows leaving one Mohammed Ghouse Shariff injured.
Residents who witnessed the commotion on the street, informed Nazarbad Police resulting in Nazarbad Inspector M.L. Shekar and staff rushing to the spot. The youths, who saw the Police, fled from the spot leaving their bikes behind, which was seized by the Police. The timely arrival of the Police prevented a major crime.
Based on the statement given by Ghouse, the Nazarbad Police had registered a case and based on the registration numbers of the bikes the youths had left behind, the Cops traced their residences on Monday and arrested them.
