Bengaluru: In yet another display of his dominance in the State Co-operative sector, Chamundeshwari JD(S) MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) has been elected unopposed as the President of Karnataka State Co-operative Federation (KSCF), Bengaluru, on Friday. This is the seventh time that he has been elected President.
B.K. Shivakumar has been elected unopposed as the Vice-President of the Federation.
The term of the President, Vice-President and Directors of the Federation will be five years.
Speaking to press persons after his election, GTD said that before the filing of nomination of papers for the post of President and Vice-President, CM D.K. Shivakumar and Co-op. Minister Lakshman Savadi held talks with both the factions (GTD and Shivakumar) and were successful in the unanimous election. “CM D.K. Shivakumar agreed for my election as the Federation President as I had more experience than others in the Co-operative sector,” he pointed out.
Stating that there are 48,000 different types and categories of Co-op. Institutions with a collective membership of 2.7 crore in the State, GTD said that the Co-op. Societies are engaged in different type of activities such as housing loans, educational loans, farm loans, distribution of sites, etc. He said, the Federation has focussed on propaganda of co-operative services, imparting co-operative education and training and other such activities. The Federation has imparted training to over 70,000 farmers, students and others thus far, he added.
Federation Vice-President B.K. Shivakumar, Managing Director Navin and Directors were present.
