Mysuru: The Devaraja Police have arrested the accused in two theft cases and are interrogating them to ascertain their involvement in other cases. The identities of the accused has, however, not been revealed.
Police sources told Star of Mysore that in the first case, a wallet was stolen on Sayyaji Rao Road while in the second case cash belonging to a guest at a hotel was stolen. In the first incident, one Anudeep had filed a Police complaint saying that on Thursday morning, he was getting down from his car after parking it in front of Indra Cafe when a scooter-borne thief snatched his wallet. He told the Police that the scooter-borne miscreant vanished in a flash after snatching his wallet. Anudeep, however, managed to note down the scooter registration number and handed it over to cops.
In the second case, Keerthishesh, a resident of Mumbai, was robbed of cash at a hotel where he was staying. He had booked a room at a lodge on Sayyaji Rao Road in the afternoon of Dec. 13 and he had checked out on Dec. 15.
Before checking out, he checked his bag and found that three bundles of Rs. 100 notes, one bundle of Rs. 50 notes and 25 notes of Rs. 2,000 note bundle were missing. In his complaint, Keerthishesh expressed his suspicion that some of the hotel staff might have stolen the money.
As his train to New Delhi on Dec. 15 was delayed, Keerthishesh had complained to the hotel receptionist and had left the city. Later, the Police complaint was lodged by Shivakumar, from the hotel’s sales and marketing division.
Based on the complaints, the Police have arrested the accused and are grilling them to establish their role in the theft and also ascertain their involvement in similar other thefts, Police sources said.
