Guest Lecturers demand regularisation of services

Mysore/Mysuru: The University of Mysore (UoM) Guest Lecturers Association has demanded regularisation of services of Guest Lecturers serving in various Universities and First Grade Colleges across the State.

In a press release, the Association said that Guest Lecturers have been serving in various Universities across the State for about 25 years. But their services have not yet been regularised.

Pointing out that they are paid only Rs.22,500 by UoM for a 12-hour workload and Rs.30,000 for 16-hour workload in other Universities, they said that they are not paid wages for four months in a year due to holidays.

Noting that over 10,000 Guest Lecturers were serving in Government First Grade Colleges across the State for over 15 years, the Association said that they are being paid a paltry salary of Rs.13,500 for an 8-hour workload. Taking note of the hardship faced by the Guest Lecturers, the Government should ensure their job security by regularisation of service, the release said.
