Mysore/Mysuru: Industrial Extension Cottage (Indext-C), Government of Gujarat, is organising ‘Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav’ at JSS Mysore Urban Haat in Hebbal from July 5 to 14. The exhibition-cum-sale of handloom and handicraft artefacts by artisans of Gujarat will be open for visitors from 10 am to 9 pm.
Indext-C, functioning under the Department of Industries and Mines, Government of Gujarat, is dedicated to boosting the livelihoods of artisans by providing them with a platform to showcase their artwork. This initiative supports artisans from distant villages who continue to pursue traditional craftsmanship under the Cottage and Rural Industries sector.
During this Utsav, a 3-day cultural programme of traditional Gujarati Ras-Garba has been organised in collaboration with Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Gujarat, from July 5 to 7.
Notable artisans, including award-winning craftsmen and those preserving nearly extinct arts, will conduct live demonstrations. Over 70 master craftsmen from Gujarat will participate, displaying and selling their exquisite works such as Patola weaving, Shawl weaving, Kutchi Embroidery, Ajrakh Block Print, Tie & Dye (Bandhej), Leather-work, Copper Bell, Mud mirror work, Zari-zardosi work, Bead work, Agate articles, Chaniyacholi, Applique work, Wooden & Metal work, Jewellery, accessories, Home decor and furnishings.
The event will be inaugurated on July 5 at 4 pm by P. I. Srividya, Mission Director, National Urban Livelihood Mission, Bengaluru. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, will preside.

The entire event is being conducted under the guidance of Pravin Solanki, Chairman, Indext-C and Secretary – Commissioner, Cottage & Rural Industries, Government of Gujarat.
