Gun House Circle camouflaged to look beautiful for Navaratri

Mysuru:  The controversial Gun House Circle, which was looking ugly with zinc sheets all around it and was an eyesore for tourists, has now been covered with canvas and painted yellow and red with the co-operation of JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

Work had begun to install a statue of Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji at the Circle by JSS Mahavidyapeetha when a few people moved the Court seeking a statue of late Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar at the Circle and also obtained a stay order from the Court. The zinc sheets covering the Circle was a disturbing sight for tourists visiting the Palace.

MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha had appealed JSS Mahavidyapeetha to cover the Circle appropriately to obscure the undesirable zinc sheets and had even said that MCC was ready to do the job.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Jagadeesha said that MCC would co-operate if various organisations come forward to beautify the city. However, he added that the new look of Gun House Circle by JSS Mahavidyapeetha was just a temporary one in view of Dasara.
