‘Guru-Shishya Nrityollasa’ at Veene Seshanna Bhavan

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Guru-Shishya’ parampara denotes a succession of teachers and disciples in traditional Vedic culture. It is the tradition of spiritual relationship and mentoring where teachings are transmitted from a ‘Guru’ (teacher) to a ‘Shishya’ (student). Shishya eventually masters the knowledge Guru embodies. 

City’s Nrityagiri Academy has initiated a special series ‘Guru-Shishya Nrityollasa,’  a dance recital by Guru-Shishya duo Vidushi Dr. Kripa Phadke, Director, Nrityagiri Academy and her disciple, Vidushi Suraksha Dixit, at Veene Seshanna Bhavan, Adichunchanagiri Road, in city on Feb. 17 at 6.15 pm. Music ensemble will have nattuvangam by Vidu. Roopashree Madhusudan, vocal by Vidu. Rajeshwari Pandit with Vid. P. Janardhan Rao on mridanga and Vid. Pradeshacharya on niolin. 

Artiste’s Profile: A disciple of Vidushi Dr. Kripa Phadke and Shanthala awardee Vidushi B. Bhanumati, Suraksha is the daughter of Gayathri and Girijashankar and sister of Sudhanva Dixit. She successfully completed her Rangapravesham in Feb. 2018. Suraksha has also completed her Vidwat securing 2nd rank in Mysuru and is a recipient of ‘CCRT scholarship’ from Ministry of Culture, Government of India and scholarship from Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy. She has also participated in ‘Bharatanrityam workshop’ under the guidance of Padma Bhushan Dr. Padma Subramanyam. She has performed at various prestigious platforms such as Dubai Vishwa Samskruti Utsav, Kumbh Mela of Ujjain and Prayagraj.
