Handloom Exhibition at JSS Mysore Urban Haat to end on Sept. 8
Mysuru: Adding a special touch of tradition and elegance to the festive spirit of Gouri-Ganesha, the ‘Hath Kargah-2026: My Handloom, My Pride’ State Handloom Exhibition and Sales Expo is currently underway at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Hebbal Industrial Area.
The primary objective of the expo is to provide a wider market for handloom products created by weavers and handloom cooperative societies, while showcasing their traditional skills and craftsmanship to the public.
The expo also offers customers an opportunity to purchase high-quality handloom products directly from weavers at affordable prices, without the involvement of middlemen.
More than 60 stalls featuring handloom products from different parts of Karnataka and various States across India have added to the attraction of the expo. Apart from Karnataka, products from J&K, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, UP, Tamil Nadu, AP, Telangana and Assam are drawing considerable attention from visitors.
Among the major attractions are Mysore Silk, Ilkal and Kani sarees, embroidered sarees, Kollegal silk and handloom sarees, along with Kanchipuram silk sarees from Tamil Nadu, Banarasi sarees from Varanasi, Gadwal, Uppada and Kalamkari sarees from Andhra Pradesh, Pashmina shawls from Kashmir, and Baluchari and Kantha-work sarees from West Bengal.
A special Theme Pavilion has been set up by the Weavers’ Service Centre, Bengaluru, where visitors can witness a live demonstration of saree weaving on a traditional handloom. A traditional handloom weaving demonstration by weavers from Rajasthan is also being conducted, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into India’s rich and diverse weaving traditions.
The expo is organised in association with the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi, the Textiles Development Commissioner and Department of Handlooms and Textiles, Bengaluru, the Karnataka State Cooperative Handloom Weavers’ Federation Ltd. and JSS Mysore Urban Haat.
The expo will be open to visitors from 10 am to 9 pm till Sept. 8. Entry is free.
