Hanuma Jayanti procession passes off peacefully in Hunsur

Hunsur: Over 20,000 devotees took part in the Hanuma Jayanti procession organised by Taluk Celebration Committee in Hunsur town this morning.

The procession passed off peacefully amid unprecedented tight Police security arrangements of 1,500 personnel deployed. Many streets and thoroughfares along the procession routes were enveloped in a blanket of saffron buntings and flags and no untoward incidents were reported unlike previous years.

A large number of Hanuma devotees from various villages and across the town, sporting saffron dresses, took part in the procession chanting slogans of Jai Hanuman.

They covered the six kilometres procession route beginning from Panchaloha Hanuma Temple at Ranganatha Badavane after passing through Kalkunike bridge, Shabariprasad Circle, Old bridge,  Old Bus Stand, New Bus Stand, Kalpatharu Circle, Maruthi Circle and ended near Manjunathaswamy Temple.

The participation of more than 15 tableaux carrying the decorated idols of Lord Hanuma was the main attraction.  The dance by huliveshadharis, karadimajalu, nagari and other folk dances added glitter to the celebration.

Devotees celebrated utsav with all religious fervour. Barring stray incidents, the procession was peaceful.

Earlier, State President of JD(S) and local MLA A.H. Vishwanath, MP Pratap Simha, former MLA H.P. Manjunath, City Municipal Council President H.P. Mahadev, ZP member and State Congress Women Cell President Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, Celebration Committee President Venkatanarayan Das took part in the inauguration.

Later speaking to reporters, Pratap Simha extended thanks to people for celebrating Hanuma jayanthi peacefully.

Legal Advisors of the Celebration Committee D.S. Yogananda and Kirankumar, Gavadagere Natarajaswamy,  Madahalli Mutt Sambasadashiva Swamy, Kali Swamy of Bigg Boss fame were present.
