Harmony and balance

In Feng Shui, the symbolism of what we see is very important, hence orienting and placing the right décor and symbols is quite important especially for bedrooms. The bedroom space is the ultimate inner sanctum where the person is most vulnerable during sleep to recharge the chi. From a yin/yang perspective, this is a more yin, quiet and peaceful environment; hence one needs to avoid distracting and powerful chi.

If you have an en-suite bedroom, you must keep the bathroom door closed at all times. Work on the southwest corner of your bedroom layout for Feng Shui charms and to start with, you could use aromatherapy or other positive vibes in that nook.

Adapting right kind of crystals also helps in enhancing the bedroom chi. In Feng Shui, crystals are widely used for the specific energy, or the vibrations they generate like for example rose quartz crystal is used to attract love and romance, as well as to heal a broken heart.

The rose quartz crystal emanates specific frequencies that promote heart healing. Apart from this, Black tourmaline and hematite have strong protective energies hence keeping them near the main door is said to protect the home from bad energies, while citrine helps heal self-esteem issues, as well as attract wealth and abundance.

To ensure that the bedroom is in order, simple alignments listed below could be beneficial:

  • Avoid sleeping with your head close to a window as your chi will dissipate through the window and make you feel more tired on awakening.
  • If you have a bathroom, toilet or shower leading off your bedroom, make sure that the toilet door is always shut while you are asleep.
  • Avoid exposed overhead beams in the bedroom cutting across the bed.
  • Do not place computers, television or exercise equipment in that spot of your bedroom.
  • To help you protect your own chi while you are asleep, to internalise it and recharge it, make sure you have a strong, stable headboard. Chi energy enters and exits the body through the feet, hands and the top of the skull. Having a solid “mountain” behind you while you sleep is far more beneficial than a cold, blank wall or worse, the cutting chi of an ornate brass bedstead.
  • Make sure all bedside tables have rounded edges and not square to prevent cutting chi being focused towards the occupants. If two sleep in the bed, ensure matching beside tables on either side for added stability and protection in the relationship.

A clean, fresh and organised bedroom ensures good sleep and health which in turn contributes towards your overall prosperity. Simple Feng Shui tips are potent enough to bring out subtle changes in your life.
