Has appealed CM to ensure that Mysuru gets a BJP Mayor, says Minister S.T. Somashekar

Mysore/Mysuru: Minister S.T. Somashekar, who is in charge of COVID management and flood relief in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts, was felicitated upon becoming a Minister for the second time, at the BJP Office in Chamarajapuram here recently.

Speaking after being felicitated, Somashekar said that he has appealed the Chief Minister to discuss the issue of Mysuru Mayor post at the Cabinet meeting and ensure that the post, which is reserved for General category woman, goes to the BJP candidate.

Noting that BJP workers are naturally upset that the Mayor post has eluded the party for long, Somashekar said that it is his wish too that a BJP candidate dons the Mysuru                                        Mayor post for the first time in the MCC’s history.

Pointing out that with the new State Cabinet having formed, the party workers should gear up for the forthcoming  ZP, TP and other local body polls, which form the base of the party’s real strength at the grassroot level. Stressing on the need for shunning any differences among party workers, Somashekar said that a unified effort was needed for winning the ZP polls.

Stating that he has come to Mysuru again as COVID and Flood Relief In-charge of the district, the Minister, referring to the ongoing demolition of  unauthorised temples, said that he will direct the authorities to stop demolition.

Asserting that the Union Government has extended full support to the co-operation sector, he said that the sector has assumed much significance after Prime Minister formed an exclusive Ministry of Co-operation, which is currently held by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

BJP City President T.S. Srivatsa, Mysuru Rural President Mangala Somashekar, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, former Mayor Sandesh Swamy and other leaders were present on the occasion.
