Hunsur: A Head Constable has been arrested for assaulting an Inspector during Departmental Enquiry at the Dy.SP’s Office here on Saturday.
While the Head Constable has been identified as Krishnegowda, the Inspector who was reportedly assaulted is Hunsur Town Inspector C.V. Ravi.
Krishnegowda, who was accused of stealing live bullets from T. Narasipur Police Station in 2020, was arrested and was produced before a Court, which had remanded him to judicial custody. After spending six months in jail, Krishnegowda had come out on bail.
A Departmental Enquiry was initiated in this case, for which the Superintendent of Police (SP) had appointed Hunsur Sub-Division Dy.SP Raviprasad as the Enquiry Officer.
Krishnegowda, who appeared before the Dy.SP for enquiry on Saturday, not only misbehaved, but also did not co-operate for the enquiry, it is learnt.
The Dy.SP then summoned Inspector C.V. Ravi and asked him to advice Krishnegowda to co-operate for the enquiry.
But when the Inspector went to speak with Krishnegowda, he (Krishnegowda) is said to have assaulted the Inspector following which a case was registered against the Head Constable at Hunsur Town Police Station.
Krishnegowda was produced before a Court, which has remanded him to judicial custody.
