Two cases of malaria infection were reported in the city after 20 years, following which the staff of Bannimantap Primary Health Centre undertook the fogging operation in its limits. The fogging operation was carried out under the guidance of District Malaria Eradication Officer Dr. Pratibha and Bannimantap Primary Health Centre Medical Officer Dr. N.P. Venkatesh.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Dr. Venkatesh said that Sameer Shaikh, 27, of Mysuru and                            Mohammad Hassan, 26, a native of Bihar are the ones who are affected.

Stating that the two worked in Mumbai and had come to Mysuru a few days ago, he said that Sameer came to the Primary Health Centre, when he was diagnosed for malaria, while Hassan went to a private hospital, where he too was diagnosed for malaria.

Later, the two are being given a 14-day treatment with doctors constantly monitoring their health, Dr. Venkatesh added.
