Heavy rains lash Mysuru

October 16, 2019

Mysuru: With Southwest Monsoon beginning to retreat and Northeast Monsoon expected to begin from tomorrow, rain lashed out heavily in the city troubling daily commuters during peak hours of traffic last evening. Heavens opened which caught Mysureans unawares and with it followed never-ending  list of woes.

The damaged road in Hebbal, Vijayanagar 2nd Stage from former Minister G.T. Devegowda’s residence up to Water Tank and the stretch between SBI to Abhishek Circle in Manchegowdana Koppal is greatly inconveniencing the residents.

The entire stretch in the middle of the road has been dug up to a depth of 7 feet to lay water pipeline and yesterday’s heavy rain filled up the trench putting the daily commuters in danger.

Following heavy rains, open gutter in Kumbarakoppal near Mahadeshwara Temple overflew submerging the surrounding areas.

The area Corporator visited the affected area last night and efforts were going on to clear water-logging.

In Gokulam and Mahadeshwara Layout near Trinity Circle, the entire stretch has become accident-prone as large amounts of rock and sand, washed down from surrounding areas, have filled up the road.

There have been reports of power disruption last night after the heavy rains in Hebbal, MG Koppal, Lakshmikantanagar and Vijayanagar 3rd Stage.

Water-logging in Yadavagiri Industrial Area and Manjunathapura has resulted in overflowing gutters and the surrounding areas got submerged in rainwater.

Heavy downpour affected normal life in Srirampura 2nd Stage, Saraswathipuram, Sharadadevinagar, Ramakrishnanagar, Nazarbad, Siddarthanagar and surrounding areas.

Water logged roads and rainwater entering into residential areas have been reported in Sahukar Chennaiah Road of Janatanagar.
