Heritage building Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion needs attention

Sir,

When I go for morning walk with Prof. Sheik Ali, we see a board at the entrance gate indicating that it is Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion and below it is written Museum Complex (see picture). If there is no indication about the visiting hours how can visitors know about it? It is not known whether the Museum is still open. I had visited once  and there are very good exhibits. I heard lately that due to poor maintenance including rainwater leakage it presents a poor condition. There is a huge metal water tank near the entrance gate which needs painting. The windows too need attention including  painting.

The reason as to why we walk taking this route is because Prof. Sheik Ali is very fond of it as he used to teach history during 60s and he remembers the Italian inside decor as well a beautiful  carved Mantapa.

In view of the scheduled visit of the Prime Minister for next year’s 100th Convocation of the University of Mysore, I find that  the whole area is being  spruced up, it is suggested attention may be paid to this remarkable heritage building also.
