Mysuru: Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Raya Reddy reviewed the functioning of Mysore, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar Universities at Crawford Hall here on Wednesday. The Vice-Chancellors of all these Universities were present at the meeting.
The Minister sought inputs on the number of permanent faculty, teacher vacancies, guest lecturers and outsourced faculty from the VCs.
He also reviewed the Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and all other courses offered by these Universities, the funding, sources of revenue, financial status, expenditures and such other things.
During the meeting, Raya Reddy said that University of Mysore faced pension woes after Hassan, Mandya and Chamarajanagar Universities were carved out of it. The Minister assured that he would discuss the matter at the Government level and make efforts to address the issue.
Karnataka State Higher Education Council Vice-Chairman Prof. S.R. Niranjana, University of Mysore VC Prof. N.K. Lokanath, Hassan University VC Prof. Tarikere C. Taranath, Mandya University VC Prof. K. Shivachithappa, the Minister’s Personal Secretary P.M. Chidambar and others were present.
