Highway dacoity: Two arrested

Rs. 2,000 cash recovered, car seized

Hunsur: Bilikere Police, have arrested two members of a dacoit gang, who had robbed a truck river of Rs. 10,000 cash and a mobile phone before fleeing with the truck keys on Jan. 5 night. The accused were produced before a Court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

On Jan. 5, the truck (KL-14-Y-6399), carrying iron from a company in Hunsur, left Hunsur at 12 noon and was proceeding towards Koothupuram in Kerala. When the truck passed Bilikere at about 10.45 pm, a gang of five persons, who came in a car from Mysuru side, waylaid the truck, assaulted the truck driver and snatched Rs. 10,000 cash and his mobile phone. The gang also took away the truck keys before fleeing from the spot.

The truck driver, who managed to reach Bilikere Police Station at about 2.45 am on Jan. 6, lodged a complaint and also informed the Police that the gang members were speaking in Kannada and also gave the car’s registration number as KA-41-C-5387.

Based on the complaint, Bilikere Police, who registered a case, began their investigation and based on the information, left for Bengaluru and two gang members.

They also recovered Rs. 2,000 cash and seized the car used for the crime. The Cops have launched a hunt to nab the absconding gang members.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shivakumar and Hunsur Sub-Division Dy.SP M. Raviprasad guided Inspector M. Ravikumar, Sub-Inspector Shivamanju and staff Mithrakumar, C.E. Ravikumar, Ravi and B.P. Ravi in the nabbing and seizing operation.
