Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that Hindi is not only a national language but also a language of communication, Chamaraja MLA L.Nagendra said that learning Hindi will largely help in communication with others.

He was speaking after inaugurating Hindi Pracharaks Meet organised by Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha (Dharwad) at Terapanth Bhavan on Vanivilas road here recently.

Pointing out that a majority of the country’s 130 crore population speak Hindi, Nagendra said that most of North Indian States are Hindi speaking States and there are a good number of Hindi speaking people in other States as well. Noting that Hindi is most suited as the language of communication, considering the fact that Hindi is the national language, the MLA observed that one will only gain by learning Hindi. 

Contending that learning Hindi will help in better communication and understanding, he said that learning Hindi will also help in maintaining national unity.

Chamarajanagar ZP CEO H.B. Narayan Rao said that learning Hindi will help one to face situations in any part of the country. Highlighting the need for having knowledge of Hindi, he said that Mahatma Gandhi  established Hindi Prachar Sabha in Southern part of the country with an objective of spreading the language to the South and also for maintaining national unity.

Pointing out that the Prachar Sabha is not just an institute for conducting Hindi exams and issuing certificates, Narayan Rao  said that the Sabha has been doing yeoman work for promoting the language across the country .

Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha President Eshwar Anchatagiri, in his address, said that Mahatma Gandhi used Hindi language as a unifying force among all sections of the society during the struggle for independence. He called upon the people to  voluntarily come forward for learning Hindi as a language of bonding and friendship.

Ten Hindi Pracharaks, who have successfully served in promoting Hindi language, were honoured on the occasion.

Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha Madras Unit Special Officer Raghavendra Auradkar, General Secretary S.Jayaraj, D.Joshi, Sabha office-bearers Arun D. Joshi, M.R. Patil, Dr. S.V. Hinchigeri, S. Radhakrishnan, Basaveshwara Shiskha Mahavidyalaya Principal Satish Kumar Pandey and others were present.

More than 400 Hindi Pracharaks attended the day-long meet.
