Hindustani concert by Mumbaikar on Feb. 9

Mysore/Mysuru: Rutuja Lad from Mumbai, a disciple of Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, will be presenting a Hindustani vocal concert on Feb. 9 at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar at 6 pm under the aegis of Gayana Sabha, Mysuru. She will be accompanied by Pt. Bhimashankar Bidanur on tabla and Deepak Nagannavar on harmonium.

Rutuja Lad was initiated into music at the age of five by her parents Umesh Lad and Tanuja Lad. She received her initial training from Guruvarya Bhalchandra Patre. Later she was trained in Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana by Gaanyogini Pandita Dhondutai Kulkarni for 12 years. Currently, she is in advanced training under Vidushi Ashwini B. Deshpande. She is also learning harmonium from Sudhir Nayak.

Rutuja did her graduation in Psychology from Mumbai University and completed her Master’s in Music from S.N.D.T. Women’s University. She is also a visiting faculty in the University.

Rutuja has won prizes in several prestigious music competitions. She has been a contestant on Zee Marathi SaReGaMaPa and was one of the top six Finalists. She is also a graded artiste of All India Radio in Thumri /Dadra.

She has performed in prestigious music organisations like Hridayesh Gaanaprabha Youth Festivals; INT Aditya Birla Centre for Performing Arts; Suburban Music Circle; Sangeet Kalakari Mandali, Bengaluru; Gaansaraswati Mahotsav; IIT Bombay Festival, to name a few.

Accompanists Pt. Bhima-shankar Bidanur and Deepak Nagannavar are well-known artistes of the city. Both of them have accompanied renowned vocalists, in addition to presenting solo performances at prestigious platforms.
