Hindustani vocal music concert on Sunday

Swara Sankula Sabha, Mysuru, a brain-child of leading Neuro-Surgeon Dr. M.S. Bhaskar, ably assisted by Pandit Veerabhadraiah Hiremutt, has organised a Hindustani vocal concert on Sunday, 26th November at 6.30 pm, at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, J.L.B. Road.

Pandit Sudhindra Bhowmick from Bombay will be on vocal, Pandit Sriram Bhat from Mysuru on harmonium and Pandit Udayraj Karpur from Bangalore on tabla.

Profile: Pandit Sudhindra Bhowmick started his musical voyage with Pandit Biswanath Sur of Calcutta after which he was tutored by Pandit Ramarao Nayak, a leading exponent of Agra Gharana and others for over three decades. Then he learnt about Thumris under the able guidance of Padma Bhushan Shobha Gurthu. An untiring music enthusiast, he learnt the nuances of music under two more senior musicians.

This is the second time he is coming to perform at Swara Sankula. Besides his musical interests, he holds a degree in Engineering from IIT and in Management from IIM.

A versatile performer, music appears to be his first love. The programme is organised as a tribute to Pandit Ramrao V. Nayak.

Entry to the programme is free for all music-lovers.
