Hunsur: A Home Guard, was killed on the spot while his relative sustained serious injuries, after the motorbike they were riding crashed into an electric pole.
The incident took place at Vaderahosahalli village in Hunsur taluk on Thursday early morning.
The deceased is identified as V.D. Harish (33), a Home Guard at the Hunsur unit and a resident of Vaderahosahalli village, while the injured has been identified as Prakash, a relative of Harish.
Harish, who had finished his night shift at Hunsur Town Police Station at about 5.10 am on Thursday was to return home on his bike. As his bike did not start, he called his relative Prakash over the phone and asked him to pick him up from the Police Station.
Prakash, who arrived at the Police Station, picked up Harish and the duo was proceeding on the bike towards the village, when the bike rammed into the newly erected electric pole, which had leaned dangerously towards the road.
While Prakash was thrown away from the bike due to the impact of crash and sustained minor injuries, Harish, who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries and succumbed on the spot. Bilikere Police have registered a case.
