Horticulture Dept. Invites applications from farmers

The Department of Horticulture has invited applications from farmers to avail benefits provided by the Central Government under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) for the year 2022-23.

PMKSY aims to ensure access to some means of protective irrigation to all agricultural farms across the country and also the ‘per drop more crop’ programme, thus bringing rural prosperity.

SC and ST farmers who have installed drip and sprinkle irrigation may avail 90 percent financial aid for two hectare land while for the farmers belonging to other communities can avail 75 percent financial assistance.

The Centre has sanctioned 45 percent financial help to all the farmers belonging to any community with 2 to 5 hectare land.

For those farmers who grow vegetables and commercial flowers within two hectare land will also be given financial aid. Farmers cultivating coffee, tea and rubber will be not be given any financial help.

Beneficiaries must only grow horticultural crops after micro irrigation installation. Applicants must have their own irrigation system and sufficient water supply for micro irrigation. Those farmers who do not have any irrigation system must get an approval letter from other farmers.
