Mysore/Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) Prasaranga Director Prof. M. Nanjaiah Honganur released the book titled ‘Hosagannada Sahitya Charitre: Panthagalu,’ co-authored by writers Dr. Hombaiah Honnalagere and Srinath B. Kambli, at a programme organised under the aegis of Karnataka Folklore Scholars Federation, at Kuvempu Auditorium in Prasaranga premises, Manasagangothri on Hunsur Road here recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Honganur said that while Halegannada focussed more on describing the administration of the erstwhile rulers, Hosagannada literature has etched in the minds of the common man.
Pointing out that it is Hosagannada literature that is most used in writing and speaking, he maintained that the empathy of Dalit, Backward Classes and women have remained alive in Hosagannada literature.
Observing that Hosagannada literature has been the voice of marginalised, vulnerable and all other such sections of the society, he said that the book has explained about the love for the land, literature, patriotism, movements, agitations and such other spheres of life.
PSI T.S. Mahendra said that books will show us new ways if one reads and understand them. He called upon the student fraternity and youths to use cell phones to the least extent possible and to concentrate much on reading and writing.
Federation Convenor Dr. H.P. Manju, Journalist Vinod Mahadevapura, Prasaranga Superintendent Channabasappa, Assistant Director Anil Kumar, Printing Press Manager Satish, Shivalingegowda, Talakad Nagaraj, Shankar, Vishwanath and others were present.
