Hostel workers stage demonstration

Mysuru: Strongly opposing the Government’s decision to directly appoint ‘D’ Group employees to hostels and residential schools run by the Social Welfare Department and Backward Classes Welfare Department, nearly a hundred hostel workers of the district, under the banner of Karnataka State Government Hostels and Residential Schools Outsourced Workers Union, staged a demonstration in front of the DC’s office here recently.

Claiming that the Government’s move to directly appoint ‘D’ Group employees will deal a severe blow to them, who have been serving in these posts for years with low wages, the hostel workers urged the Government to drop the move and regularise their services. Union office-bearers Jagadish Soorya and Shashivardhan, CITU leader Basavaraj and others took part in the demonstration.
