Hotel Owners appeal for roll back of 20 percent hike in trade licence fee

Mysore/Mysuru: With the MCC hiking trade licence fee by 20 percent this year, the Mysuru Hotel Owners Association has appealed Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj for rolling back the fee hike.

In a memorandum submitted to the Minister here on Friday, Association President C. Narayanagowda said that the MCC has hiked the trade licence fee by 20 percent this year, despite the COVID pandemic that broke out last year causing a huge loss of business to the Hospitality industry.

Maintaining that hoteliers are in dire straits due to loss of business and income triggered by COVID-induced lockdown and other regulations, he appealed the Minister to roll back the hiked fee.

Asserting that hotels are facing huge losses due to COVID pandemic, Narayanagowda contended that despite facing great difficulties, Hoteliers paid the licence fee last year. The Minister should realise the unprecedented crisis that hoteliers are facing and come to their rescue by rolling back the hiked trade licence fee, Narayanagowda said.
