Hotel Owners seek uniform tax policy for all commercial buildings

Mysuru: Office-bearers of Hotel Owners Association submitted a memorandum to MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadish yesterday seeking uniform tax policy for all commercial buildings and fulfilment of other demands.

Speaking on the occasion Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda contended that the effort of hotels also contributed to the city acquiring the Cleanest Medium City status. He pointed out that MCC had divided commercial buildings into two categories- small and big for tax and suggested MCC to have a uniform policy for both. He sought Completion Report (CR) for all buildings instead of collecting heavy tax from building owners without CR.

Narayanagowda recalled that MCC had conducted a licence renewal drive at the premises of the Association itself last year which was good but alleged that sufficient time was not given before hand to collect the needed documents.

He asked MCC officials not to harass hotel owners for property tax which should be paid by the building owners.

Referring to ban of plastics, Narayanagowda asked MCC to suggest and provide alternative packing materials as many customs prefer parcel service.

Association office-bearers were present on the occasion.
