Mysuru: The Mysuru Hotel Owners Association has appealed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to extend business hours of Hotels and Restaurants to 1 am in the city as announced in the Budget.

Association President C. Narayanagowda, who met Siddaramaiah at the Newspaper Day celebrations organised by the Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) at Rani Bahadur auditorium on Hunsur Road here yesterday, presented  two separate memorandums to the CM, one seeking extension of business hours to 1 am and the other appealing not to increase Nandini Milk price.

Pointing out that the State Government in its 2024-25 Budget had declared that the business hours for Hotels and Restaurants will be extended to 1 am in BBMP and all other 10 City Corporations of the State, Narayanagowda highlighted that this extension is needed for promotion of tourism and other commercial developments of the State.

Stressing that Mysuru being a very important tourism hub of the State, it is essential to extend the business hours of Hotels and Restaurants, he said that this extension will also help the labour class and those coming to hospitals. As such, the Government should take steps to immediately grant permission for extension of business hours.

In the other memorandum, Narayanagowda said that with spiralling prices of essential commodities, the people are facing a lot of hardship. The State Government’s  proposal to increase the milk prices will only compound the problems of the common man. Rise in milk prices will also impact the Hotel Industry, with Hoteliers being forced to hike the prices of dishes.

Pointing out that any hike in milk price will have a cascading effect on the prices of coffee, tea, curds and other dishes in which milk is used, he urged the Government not to increase milk price. He also appealed the Government to release the incentives announced to dairy farmers and to stop the injustice being meted out to milk producers in the name of quality.
