Hoteliers want total shut down

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru Hotel Owners Association has urged the Government to order a complete shut down of Hotel industry in the wake of rising COVID cases.

In a press release, Association President C. Narayanagowda expressed concern over continuous surge of the deadly virus. Highlighting that home delivery staff of food suppliers are always exposed to the risk of catching the virus due to widespread travel, he said that under such circumstances it is better to completely shut down the Hotel industry.

Maintaining that hotels are indeed suffering losses due to parcel and takeaway services, Naryanagowda said that though the Government may have allowed parcel services taking into consideration food supplies to patients and their caretakers, at the same time it should take note of the health and safety of home delivery staff and other attendants.

Contending that a complete shutdown of the Hotel industry is key to tackling the deadly pandemic, he said that the Government must order a total ban on food parcel services too in order to check the spread of the virus.
