Hotels, shops sport vaccination status

To promote safe business practices

Mysore/Mysuru: After the killer second wave of the pandemic, many hotels and business establishments in the city have rolled out a new feature to show the fully vaccinated status of staff. This is to assure customers that they are safe as all staff manning the units were fully vaccinated and they can enter the premises without fear.

This initiative is crucial to aid the recovery of impacted industries across the board, specifically for travel, hotels and hospitality due to pandemic-led restrictions and the worry of stepping out, said C. Narayanagowda, President of Mysuru Hotel Owners Association.

“We realised that our customers prefer hotels with vaccinated staff when they return to stay or have food. Vaccination is the most important initiative to beat the virus and a self-declared vaccine visibility at the entrance of hotels and business establishments is a powerful way to reinforce trust among consumers,” he added.

The Association has taken the initiative of supplying over 1,000 posters that carry the fully vaccinated message as customers enter the premises. Before the boards were put up, the Association coordinated with the District Administration and Mysuru City Corporation to fully vaccinate all the hotel staff and this increased the confidence of both the staff and customers, he noted.

The City Corporations of many cities have made it mandatory for people to produce vaccination certificates to access public transport and other civic-run amenities. “We have taken the initiative voluntarily to increase the level of confidence so that it promotes safe business practices,” Narayanagowda said.

Welcoming the initiative, DHO Dr. K.H. Prasad said that widespread COVID-19 vaccination will be the key to travel industry’s rebound. This will provide visibility on hotels and lodges with vaccinated staff and enable users to enter the premises without any apprehensions. This will also increase business prospects.
