Mysore/Mysuru: Burglars, who broke into a house, have decamped with gold, silver and cash, all worth Rs. 5.50 lakh from the house on Aug. 31 night.
The burglary took place at the house of Udaykumar on the 11th Cross at B.M. Sri Nagar.
Udaykumar, who works in a packaging industry, had taken the house on lease and was staying with his mother Shashikala since a year. As Saturday was the last Saturday of Shravana Masa, Shashikala had gone to her parents’ house in T. Narasipur and Udaykumar, after locking the house at about 11.30 pm, went to work in the night shift. When he came back at about 8 am the next day, he saw the front door of the house forcibly opened and on entering the house, the burglary came to light. In his complaint with Metagalli Police, Udaykumar has stated that before going to work, he had locked the bedroom and had kept the key under the bed and someone broke into the house and stole a silver lamp, silver mask, silver plate and bowl and silver Ganesha idol kept in the puja room, silver anklets and toe rings kept in the almirah of the bedroom, several other silver articles, Rs. 3 lakh worth gold chain, Rs. 22,500 worth earrings, nose stud, pendant, Rs. 3.90 lakh worth gold ornaments and Rs. 50,000 cash.
Meanwhile, residents are living in fear following series of burglaries in the locality and are afraid to lock their house and go even in case of emergencies. Incidents of burglars knocking on the doors and fleeing from the spot when the residents screamed for help have also taken place.
Even though the Police have intensified night patrolling, the burglars seem to hide from them and strike at houses after the Police patrolling vehicle and staff leave the spot. Residents have urged the authorities concerned to take step to conduct special operations to nab the burglars.
