Gold jewellery and silver articles worth about Rs.1.60 lakh stolen
Mysuru: In yet another house burglary in city in recent days, burglars have decamped with gold jewellery and silver articles worth about Rs.1.60 lakh at Hebbal in city late last night.
K.R. Appaji Gowda, a resident of sixth cross in Hebbal first stage, near Chamundeshwari Temple and an employee of a newspaper printing press, left for work at about 7 pm yesterday after locking the house.
Appaji Gowda returned from work at about 3.30 am early this morning, only to find his house burgled.
The burglars, after gaining entry by forcing open the front door of the house, sometime around midnight, are said to have broke open the steel almirah and made good with 48 grams gold jewellery and silver articles worth about Rs.1.60 lakh.
Even as they committed burglary, the robbers bolted the doors of neighbouring houses to prevent the residents from coming out, it is learnt.
Hebbal Police who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar.
Dog Squad and Fingerprint unit were summoned to the spot.
