House burgled: Gold, silver, idols worth Rs. 17.56 lakh stolen

Mysuru: Burglars, who broke into the house of a Government Officer by breaking open the door, have decamped with gold jewellery, silver articles and idols from the house.

The burglary took place at the house of S.N. Rajesh at Ishwarya Layout in Siddalingeshwara Layout 2nd Stage in city.

On Sunday at about 3.30 pm, Rajesh and his family members had gone to the city for festival shopping. The burglars, making use of the opportunity, broke into the house and decamped with a pair of pearl earrings and eardrops weighing 35 grams, 15-gram gold bracelet, a pair of gold bangles weighing 38 grams, two gold bangles and a gold chain weighing 60 grams, two silver arishina-kum kum cups weighing 50 grams, 30-gram Shivalinga idol, 20-gram Mahalakshmi idol and 25-gram silver sacred spoon from the house.

When they returned at about 9 pm, they found the safety door open and the main door forcibly opened. On entering the house and inspecting the rooms, they found gold jewellery kept in two boxes in the wardrobe stolen and puja items and idols kept in the puja room stolen, the complaint from Rajesh stated.

Mysuru South Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
