Mysuru: Burglars, who broke into a house, have decamped with gold jewellery worth Rs. 5 lakh from the house.
The burglary took place at the house of Thimmashetty at Kannegowda Block in Hootagalli yesterday morning.
Thimmashetty, who works as a cook, locked his house on Saturday night and had gone to the Kalyana Mantap for work.
It is learnt that the burglars struck at about 4 am on Sunday. Before breaking open the door, the burglars latched the doors of the houses on the ground floor, first floor and the opposite house. The burglars then forcibly opened the door of Thimmashetty using an iron road.
Meanwhile, neighbours, who woke up on hearing the sounds tried to come out of the house but were unable as it was latched from outside.
They then called Thimmashetty over the phone and informed him about strange sounds coming from inside his house. But the burglars decamped with 70 grams gold ornaments kept in the almirah and fled from the spot.
After being informed by neighbours, Vijayanagar Police, dog squad and fingerprint experts reached the spot and conducted preliminary investigation. Vijayanagar Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
