House burgled: Rs. 2 lakh worth cash, jewellery looted

Burglars, who broke into a locked house in Hootagalli here, have decamped with gold jewellery and cash worth Rs. 2 lakh.

The incident came to light when Manjulamma, the owner of the house, who had locked the house and had been to a function to a relative’s house on Mar. 1, returned home on Mar. 5 only to find the door of the house broken. When she went inside, she found two gold bangles weighing 20 grams, a bracelet weighing 15 grams, a pair of earrings weighing five grams, a gold chain with black beads weighing 40 grams, two finger rings weighing 12 grams and cash worth about Rs. 2 lakh kept in the almirah missing and lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station.

Vijayanagar Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.

Though the Police have been continuously urging the public to inform them when they go out of station, so that the Police could keep a watch on the house, many are not doing so, which is leading to such crimes. The Police have again urged the public to inform them when they go out of station leaving their house locked for long time.
