Housing Societies stage protest against MUDA proposal

Mysuru: Strongly opposing the MUDA’s proposal to develop layouts on 50:50 ratio, members of Housing Co-operative Societies Action Committee staged a demonstration in front of MUDA office on JLB Road here yesterday.

The MUDA on Feb.11, 2010 had placed a proposal before the Housing Co-operative Societies to develop layouts and distribute sites on 50:50 ratio basis. But the Societies rejected the proposal saying it was unfair. But the MUDA is hell-bent on sticking to its proposal, they alleged.

The Action Committee Convenor D.T. Prakash, who addressed the protesters, said that the Societies have developed several layouts and have even distributed sites at affordable rates to some of the members. But the MUDA’s unscientific stance has posed a big hurdle in the distribution of sties to the remaining members, he alleged.

Stating that several representations to the MUDA Chairman and Commissioner have fallen on deaf ears, Prakash expressed concern that the Societies will have to face heavy losses if the MUDA firmly sticks to its proposal.

Housing Co-operative Societies Federation President J. Puttaswamy and office-bearers took part in the demonstration
