Hrudayaranga troupe stages play Chama Cheluve

Mysuru: Senior writer Dr. Sujatha Akki has said that by engaging themselves in art related activities, medical students can provide human touch to medical services.

Dr. Sujatha Akki was speaking after inaugurating the staging of play ‘Chama Cheluve’ by beating a drum at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI), J.K. Grounds in city recently.

The play was organised by Kannada Sangha of the MMC&RI, on the first day of its 2-day ‘Dhamani-24’ programme held as part of the Centenary Year celebrations of the Institute. Artistes of Hrudayaranga troupe staged the play under the direction of Jeevan Kumar Heggodu.

“As per Bharata’s Natyashastra, there is scope for learning various art forms like architecture, sculpture, painting, music, dance, drama and others. Hence, it is commendable that medical students have come forward to stage ‘Chama Cheluve,’ said the senior writer. Incidentally, Dr. Sujatha Akki is the writer of drama ‘Chama Cheluve.’

MMC&RI Alumnus and Cannes Film Festival award winning film-maker Dr. Chidananda S. Naik, who spoke, said, “I am 2013 batch student of MMC&RI. I could get success both in small screen and in my Medical profession because of the cooperation of MMC&RI Professors.”

He advised Medical students to engage themselves in various cultural activities that are held              in the college.

Dr. Sujatha Akki and Dr. Chidananda Naik were felicitated on the occasion. MMC&RI Dean & Director Dr. K.R. Dakshayani,  MMC&RI Kannada Sangha Co- Chairperson Dr. R. Yogeesh and others were present.
