Mysuru: Hundreds of students from various schools and colleges performed Yogasana marking the International Day of Yoga-2025 at Payana Car Museum on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road in the outskirts of the city yesterday.
Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Ujire, in association with the Union Ministry of AYUSH, had organised the event which was inaugurated by the President of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru, Swami Muktidanandaji.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Swami Muktidanandaji said, the people who are attracted towards modern lifestyle are losing peace, happiness and health. In such a situation, Yoga is the only way to restore better life qualities. To achieve this, everybody should practice Yoga and stay healthy.
“The young denizens who are increasingly addicted towards modern gadgets like mobile phones and TV are losing their mental peace. If man has to remain happy and peaceful, he or she has to practice Yoga regularly, at least for half an hour daily in the morning and evening hours and notice changes in their body. Along with physical health, mental well-being is also guaranteed through Yoga,” he said, lauding SDM Institute for organising the event.

Senior journalist K. Shivakumar also addressed the gathering, and Yoga performer Chinmayi was honoured with the ‘Yoga Ratna’ Award. A book, ‘Principles of Yoga’, authored by Dr. Maharudra Swamy, was released on the occasion.
Devaraju, Commissioner of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage Department, Dr. B. Shashikanth Jain, Director of Yoga and Moral Education Project, Dr. Prashanth Shetty, Principal of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Ujire and Dr. Narendra K. Shetty, Head of Kshemavana, were present on the occasion.
