Hunsur’s H.G. Tharuna, taking part in the Open International Karate Championship held at Nehru Indoor Stadium in Shivamogga, has bagged gold medals in Kata and Kumite categories (Under 30 kg).
In all, 1,500 karatekas from across India, Nepal and Srilanka took part in the Championship.
A 6th standard student of Shastri Public School here, Tharuna is the son of H.S. Gajendra and K. Mamatha.
He had also bagged medals in the National and International Championships held earlier in Tumakuru, Hubballi and Beluru.
